The
Activity

Cycle
training in off-road areas will be risk assessed on the following
criteria:
|
 |
Exclusive
of motorised traffic where possible |
 |
Sufficient
space for manoeuvres
|
 |
Absence
of physical hazards and obstructions
|
|
On-the-road
cycle training will take place on public highways
|
 |
Introduction
in quiet residential streets suitable for novice cyclists
|
 |
Graduation
to roads and conditions the instructor considers appropriate
for training purposes
|
| Visual
contact between instructor and trainee will be maintained at
all times. |
| Risk
assessments of both off the road and on-the road training areas
will be carried out by S.Rogers, who has gained experience of
this activity through employment as a Local Authority Road Safety
Officer. |

During
all phases of training the health and safety of each trainee
will be paramount .The trainees physical ability and skill
level will be carefully assessed and monitored so that health
and safety is not compromised.

Trainees
will be advised to consider wearing a cycle helmet.
|
 |
Trainees
will be advised that participation is at own risk and will
be required to sign a consent form to this effect.
|

Wessex Cycle Training is fully insured for civil liability. |

INSTRUCTOR
BACKGROUND
STEVE ROGERS
|
|
16
years as a Physical Education specialist teaching a wide variety
of sports across the age/ability range. More recently I have
been a Local Authority Road Safety Officer employed to improve
and develop the school based Cycle Training Scheme.
|
|
I
have many years of cycling experience and I hope to share
the many benefits that travelling by bike can bring.
